OLENS Review – Colored Contact Lenses for Post-Lasik Eye Surgery
Here are my recommendations for the BEST colored contact lenses post-Lasik eye surgery!
In the past year, I’ve gotten Lasik eye surgery done to correct my astigmatism as well as my far sightedness, and it was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. While I no longer needed contacts anymore for my vision, I really wanted to look into wearing colored contact lenses to switch up my makeup looks and enhance my natural eye color. While on the hunt for the perfect-colored contact lenses, I tried several brands from different companies to find the right one for me.
OLENS has always been a favorite of mine as they offer a wide range of selection, ranging from natural lenses to enhance your eye color look more defined or soft, to lenses that change your overall eye color. What I love about their lenses is that they do not dry out my eyes and they feel ultra-comfortable for a full day’s wear. Majority of their lenses are made with Hema or Puscon material with a high-water content ranging from 38% and up.
Having a high-water content and water retention is important to me as I constantly suffer with dry eyes. I would use to wear contact lenses for hours on end throughout the day, usually when I went to school until I got home, and I wouldn’t take them off immediately. I didn’t use eye drops while I wore colored contact lenses in high school either, so my eyes would often become super dry and. This would then lead into my adulthood where wearing just clear contact lenses wasn’t really an option for me anymore my eyes would suffer from the dryness, and I stuck to wearing regular glasses for a very long time.
I’m happy to say I’ve found the one, the perfect-colored contact lenses for those with dry eyes and what I would recommend post-Lasik eye surgery! While I aim tend to lean towards neutral colors and natural lenses, OLENS offers a variety of styles and shapes to choose from. From x-small lenses that blend into your natural eyes, making the contacts look super realistic to large patterns, giving you a more 3D eye look, OLENS has it all.
Here’s a before preview of what my eyes look like on the regular, without contact lenses. They’re a brown/black color with little to no definition, but I love them nonetheless.
The first pair I tried out from OLENS is the Real Ring in Grey – it’s one of their smaller lenses meant to naturally tone your eyes while creating an outer limbal ring effect. This gives you a doll-eyed look without changing the shape of your eyes or looking exaggerated. The color to these lenses are speckled and on the flat side, allowing the natural color of your eyes peak through from center of your pupil. I think they look super cute and adds a nice touch to my natural eye look!
Next up is the OLENS Eyelighter in Glowy Brown – I think this has to be my new favourite lens style! The two-tone effect gives it a romantic feels and exudes main heroine vibes in a Shojo manga. I did have to rotate and adjust the lens after putting them in to make sure the highlights were even, but I love how awake my eyes look without changing my makeup! The limbal ring around the edges are brown (they also have black) which gives you a doe-eye effect while still coming off as natural. If you’re new to lenses and are interested in trying out styles in a baby step format, I would highly recommend this style!
While I love wearing natural lenses, I also wanted to try out a few color options for me to switch up my makeup looks! OLENS Smoky Collection really spoke out to me on this one as they had a good range of colors without being overwhelming, looked enhanced yet still natural. The limbal ring on these colored contact lens collections are faded which gives a sexy smokey appearance, blending naturally into your natural eye color. The size slightly enlarges your own iris’ but isn’t overwhelmingly huge.
This collection comes in Brown, Gray, and Olive – the Gray leans towards blue making it look more ashy while the Brown is a lighter beige color, I find this unique and would pair so well with a light brown liner and brown mascara! Out of the three, my personal favorite is Olive but they’re all a good choice to pick out if you’re looking to switch the mood up.
